Upstream
Staatsolie’s Upstream operations form the starting point of our energy value chain. For more than four decades, we have produced crude oil from Suriname’s onshore fields, supplying our refinery and supporting the country’s energy needs.
Our Upstream operations focus on the exploration, development and production of crude oil from onshore fields in the Saramacca district.
We produce Saramacca Crude from the Tambaredjo, Calcutta and Tambaredjo-Northwest oilfields. Our activities include exploring for new oil reserves, drilling wells, managing reservoirs and operating the facilities needed to produce and treat the crude oil. We also use Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods to increase production from existing reservoirs.
The produced crude oil is transported from the fields to Staatsolie’s refinery for further processing. Throughout our operations, we focus on safe production and responsible management of the surrounding environment.
