Background Information

Through Staatsolie’s Helping Hands programme, volunteers from Upstream, Downstream and Corporate joined forces to renew the playground at Diakonessen Oppashuis. What began as an idea from a few committed colleagues grew into a hands-on project that brought new energy and colour to the children’s play area.

The playground and surrounding area had not received a major upgrade since 2016. The team removed tree stumps, raised the ground and gave the playground equipment a fresh coat of paint. These improvements helped transform the area into a safer, brighter and more inviting outdoor space where young children can play more freely.

The volunteers demonstrated the strength of teamwork across different parts of the organisation. Their contribution reflects the purpose of Helping Hands: using employee commitment, practical skills and shared effort to support community institutions. For Diakonessen Oppashuis, the renewed playground provides a more pleasant and child-friendly place for play and development.
